Kikaua Point Beach Park sits about 17 miles north of Kailua-Kona and is accessed via the Kukio Golf Resort entrance. All beaches in Hawaii are public; you’ll need to pick up a beach access pass at the security gate. Because parking is limited, plan to arrive by 9:00 a.m.
A short, paved trail leads from the lot to the beach, which offers restrooms, showers, and drinking water. Shade is limited, so bring water, snacks, and an umbrella. The shoreline features palm trees, pockets of shade, and a grassy area beside a small protected lagoon.
This family-friendly spot is great for kids thanks to its calm, shallow water; just use caution near the rocks, where the bottom drops off quickly.
Directions: From Kailua-Kona, drive 17 miles north on Highway 19 and turn left onto Kukio Nui Drive (near mile marker 87). Check in with the security guard, then continue to the beach parking. The park closes 30 minutes after sunset. If the lot is full, you can access Kukio Beach through the nearby Four Seasons Resort Hualalai entrance.
