Maniniowali Beach (Kua Bay) is a standout in Kekaha Kai State Park on the Big Island, known for its soft white sand and clear turquoise water. The bay forms three sandy crescents separated by lava rock. Stairs were added in 2018, but you may still need to navigate uneven lava outcrops—especially during winter surf.

Popular with locals and visitors, Kua Bay gets crowded on weekends and in peak season; arrive in the morning for easier parking and a quieter experience. In winter, you may spot humpback whales offshore, and dolphins or the occasional Hawaiian monk seal. Sunsets here are spectacular.

Shade is limited, so bring hats, reef-safe sunscreen, and an umbrella. Facilities include picnic tables, restrooms, and outdoor showers near the entrance. Always pack water and snacks, and be mindful of strong shorebreak and currents, particularly in winter.
